UTAP is a non-profit and non-governmental organization that aims to serve as a model for empowering rural African communities while keeping indigenous cultures intact. We provide:

  • Instruction on modified agricultural methods to improve local crops.
  • Offer research and resources to attain water security.
  • Make available a resilient education plan and introduce computer technology and skills to operate on a level that will meet the needs of the community.

Kucra is a lake that floods during the wet seas. The lake is only accessible during the dry season. Retains water year-round. Very far from (approx. 25 miles) from the nearest habitat (Bisigu) to be useful. Fishermen as far as Nigeria, settles there during the dry season.

Expanding Existing Lakes

UTAP proposes expanding six (6) midsize lakes spreading along the White Volta, dredged or dug-up to regain lost storage, improve water supply reservoirs, improve fish habitat, and use nutrient-rich sediments for planting of fruits and vegetables. None of the lakes sediments are considered contaminated in any form.
